Narasi
Investigative Producer
Aqwam Hanifan is an investigative producer working for Narasi, based in Jakarta. Over the past five years, I have conducted digital-based investigations using Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) to create video reports for a young audience. My reports have unveiled deceptive visits to Xinjiang by Indonesian clerics and journalists, as well as the illegal dumping of waste into the open sea by a Chinese nickel factory. I have also exposed the culprits behind an arson attack on anti-government protesters and a syndicate involved in the cruel killing of baby monkeys for the entertainment market. My work has earned me prestigious investigative awards, including the Adinegoro Awards, Indonesia Data Journalism Awards, and two-time nominee for the Sigma Awards. In addition to my investigative work, I am passionate about advancing the use of OSINT in journalism coverage in Indonesia. I frequently appear as a guest speaker in various media outlets and universities, where I explain innovative investigative methods based on OSINT that have the potential for implementation in Indonesia.
