Marcela Turati is a Mexican journalist who expose the grim realities of the "war against narco" that has left countless victims. In 2006, she co-founded "Periodistas de a Pie”, a journalistic network to reduce risks and help to create local newsrooms. In 2016 co-founded Quinto Elemento Lab, a non profit investigative lab that help journalists across Mexico. In addition, since 2018 is the coordinator of "A dónde van los desaparecidos", a website focus in investigate disappearances of people. Her first book, “Crossfire: Victims Trapped in the Narco-War”, offers an look into the lives of those affected by drug-related violence, particularly in cities like Ciudad Juárez. In 2023 she publishes “San Fernando: last stop”, an investigation of a region located close to the border with Texas, where since 2011 there have been massive disappearances of people, and massacres, mostly of migrants She has been recipient of Maria Moors Cabot of Columbia University Prize, Louis Lyons Nieman Award, the Gabriel García Márquez Iberoamerican Journalism Award and many others. She has coordinate of many investigative and collaborative projects.
